I just knew that I was tired of feeling like crap.
This led me to doing A LOT of research to figure this thing out. I had reached the point where I wasn’t getting any concrete answers from my doctor and I was getting pretty tired of getting dismissed.
I mean, I only live in my body… I don’t actually know anything about it..
In my research, I was learning a lot about how my endocrine system is responsible for regulating all of my hormones.
I learned that if my endocrine system isn’t working properly then it kind of throws my whole body for a loop because it’s all interconnected.
I learned that wonky hormones can cause a whole host of health issues. Some serious (like cancer) and some just annoying (like hair loss and weight gain).
I learned that the most obvious things, like an irregular cycle, is only the tip of the iceberg.
The good news is, that I was able to support my hormones so they started working with me instead of against me. I did this completely naturally.
I was really surprised with how quickly it worked. It was completely gentle on my body… no more putting my body in a headlock making it do something that it was created to do. It was time to listen to what my body was telling me and give it the love that it was asking for.
If you’re looking to start loving on your body and giving it the support that it’s asking you for, check out my free guide “How I get pregnant with low progesterone” and start listening to your body.. I promise it’s telling you what it needs, you just need to listen.
Alrighty, so last week I talked about what hormone issues ARE so this week I’m going to break it down further and we’re going to talk about what CAUSES them.
I’m going to talk about 3 of the sources because if I took time to talk about every single one, this blog would go on forever and well.. I don’t have that kind of time and neither do you!
1. It caused me to break out.
In my experience, I had a very hard time finding foundation or anything else that didn’t feel super heavy on my face. I tried a variety of brands, all of which that promised a light weight formula but none followed through. I believe it was because of this heaviness that the products left on my skin that I was super prone to breaking out when ever I decided to put some on.. which I’ll admit wasn’t very often (because I despised how it felt on my skin!)
2. It forced me to embrace my inner beauty
Drugstore makeup forced me to embrace my face as it was created. I didn’t like to wear it because of the reason mentioned above. So I had to get use to and eventually start to love how my face was created, blemishes and all!
3. It opened my eyes.
This is a doozy. In my mid-twenties, when I was trying to conceive my first child, one of my friends started talking to me about all the crap that is found in a lot of products on store shelves. What she was saying only added fuel to the fire of curiosity burning inside of me. I started searching like a mad woman for ingredient lists to my favourite products.. sure enough, my friend was right. This broke my heart! Not to mention it also made me throw every bit of makeup I had in the garbage! I really wasn’t going to put that on my face NOW!
I am soo thankful that I have found a line of CLEAN makeup that is professional quality, light on my skin and doesn’t have any toxic crap in it!

Sounds backwards right? A miscarriage is this terrible thing… how on earth can it be a blessing?!?
I didn’t think it was a blessing at first.
I started LISTENING more. So often, we get busy doing life and we forget to stop and listen. I was so guilty of this!
It catapulted me into the world of holistic wellness. And man, did THAT really change things.. not only my fertility but SO. MUCH. MORE.
That season of my life taught me SO MUCH and it really opened my eyes to how making a baby really isn’t always so simple. If you’re longing to grow your family but it’s just not happening for you, check out this free guide I just created detailing the things that helped me.

Today I’m talking about being happily balanced in the sense of those lovely lady hormones… you know, the ones that have the ability to take you on a wild ride EVERY. SINGLE. MONTH.?!?
Yeah. Do you know about those?
Hear me out for a second… as women, our bodies naturally produce a certain amount of a given hormone depending on the phase of the cycle we are in. All hormones have a job and they ALL aren’t needed all of the time BUT thankfully your body has you covered… or it should…
I think I’ve said this before, but let me repeat myself for a second. For a long time, I didn’t understand how my body was supposed to function. I knew that I had hormones but I didn’t know their jobs. I knew I needed estrogen and progesterone but I didn’t understand their importance.
Here’s my understanding of it all and I’m not doctor so this is from the perspective of an elementary school teacher who isn’t science minded at all… estrogen is the hormone that keeps us sane and rational beings. Progesterone also has some effect on mood but it’s necessary to establish pregnancy and to regulate Aunt Flow’s visits. We also have a small amount of testosterone and I believe this is to keep us grounded but I’m not sure.
Well, when these hormones aren’t doing their jobs and your body is a tad bit wonky, your cycle isn’t going through the processes that it needs to to establish regular visits from Aunt Flow or establish pregnancy. Your visit from Aunt Flow is likely less than regular and probably one of misery… I used to refer to that week as dooms week because I dreaded it… I knew that I’d ended up curled up in a ball from the cramps.
GUESS WHAT?!?!
Aunt Flow’s visit isn’t supposed to be painful!! If it is, that’s your body telling you something isn’t right!
For much of my life, I have had issues with my cycle. During my teen years, I would have short, heavy and very miserable visits from Aunt Flow and it would happen about every 10 days.. something was WAY not right. So my doctor at the time put me on “THE PILL”. Come to find out years later that my progesterone levels weren’t right.
So… I found a way to NATURALLY support my body and my lady cycle. Just the simple act of doing that ABSOLUTELY CHANGED MY LIFE!! I don’t dread AF’s visit anymore... I mean, it’s not my favourite but it’s not painful anymore and I can know when to expect her to show up… which I count a success!
