Stress has become such a normalized part of our society.
The idea that stress is equal to having a highly successful life is not uncommon but did you know that stress actually speeds up aging by 9-17 years which means our health is declining WAYYY before it “should”.
It’s true that we may not be able to completely eliminate stress from our lives but what can we do to manage its impact on our lives?
Well, there are a few things.
First of all, breathe.
By breathe, I don’t mean hyperventilating. I’m talking about slow, deep breaths and I know that this is so counterintuitive because when we get stressed out, many people have the tendency to hold their breath.
Holding your breathe restricts your body from doing what it was designed to do, which is regulate itself and keep its cool.
When you breathe, your body is able to regulate more quickly and you're able to avoid, spinning out and making the situation worse.

Second of all, slow down.
Again, counter-intuitive because stress tends to make us feel panicky and like things need to be done yesterday.
However, when you slow down and you stop hurrying, you are alleviating a whole bunch of unnecessary stress on your body, which means that you're producing less cortisol, and also avoiding a whole bunch of potential health issues from excessive cortisol production.
