The most amazing transformation!

The most amazing transformation!

Let’s talk for a minute about that postpartum body.

It did this amazing thing in creating a tiny human and pushing it into the world and then knew how to heal all while nourishing that tiny human (if you choose to nurse)…

But you, the resident of that body are left to learn how to love that new body again… or at the very least learn how to live with it.

Things are puffy, fluffy or sagging that weren’t before. None of your clothes fit and when you look in the mirror, you don’t really recognize that body.

You think to yourself, “It’s okay, the weight will come off… it did last time.”

You are mindful of what you eat. You find an exercise program that you love…and nothing happens.

Life is busy. The kids need this and that. The house needs to be cleaned. You’re tired.

Saying “yes” to yourself seems selfish so you put it off. You sacrifice yourself for your family but you’re quietly miserable.

You watch a fellow mom friend take charge of her health all while caring for her babies and rocking her business and think “I wish I could do that” but instead of asking what she’s doing, you cheer her on.

Then, one day, you get up the courage to ask what she’s doing.

She tells you and that sparkle that left your eye, returns.

You give it a try and are surprised by what happens before your eyes.

5lbs…

10lbs…

the weight is dropping off of you. You have more energy. You can run and play with your kids.

That mirror you once avoided, you find yourself enjoying.

You begin to fall in love with your body. Not because it’s shrinking but because it supports you and feels better when you give it the things it’s been asking for all along.

Sounds amazing, huh?

This has been my journey over the past 4 months (April 2021- July 2021) and now I’m excited to help other mama’s learn how to love their body for the first time in their lives.

2 Things to Relieve Stress INSTANTLY

2 Things to Relieve Stress INSTANTLY

Stress has become such a normalized part of our society.

The idea that stress is equal to having a highly successful life is not uncommon but did you know that stress actually speeds up aging by 9-17 years which means our health is declining WAYYY before it “should”.

It’s true that we may not be able to completely eliminate stress from our lives but what can we do to manage its impact on our lives?

Well, there are a few things.

First of all, breathe.

By breathe, I don’t mean hyperventilating. I’m talking about slow, deep breaths and I know that this is so counterintuitive because when we get stressed out, many people have the tendency to hold their breath.

Holding your breathe restricts your body from doing what it was designed to do, which is regulate itself and keep its cool.

When you breathe, your body is able to regulate more quickly and you're able to avoid, spinning out and making the situation worse.

My go-to breathing technique that I use ALLLL the time is in this handy dandy guide (
The De-stress Hack). Feel free to grab it if you’d like to give it a try.

Second of all, slow down.

Again, counter-intuitive because stress tends to make us feel panicky and like things need to be done yesterday.

However, when you slow down and you stop hurrying, you are alleviating a whole bunch of unnecessary stress on your body, which means that you're producing less cortisol, and also avoiding a whole bunch of potential health issues from excessive cortisol production.

I talk more about this in the video below but if you’re someone that finds yourself stressed to the max frequently and you’re ready to calm down, there’s a 5 day reveal and heal challenge in my community on FB that you should check out!

3 Ways Stress is a TICKING Time Bomb in your Life

Stress. It’s just part of life, right?

The mainstream would have us believe that. It’s been so normalized that to think about living life in any other way seems silly.

We are taught that if we aren’t stressed then we aren’t successful or productive.

This cycle of chronic low level stress is the cause of so much hardship in our lives. There are many ways that this can play out.

Here are 3 ways:

1) Emotionally

When you’re dealing with a constant low level stress level, your emotions and mental health take a hit. They don’t have a chance to regulate and are getting thrown off on a regular basis, which means that they may have a harder time coming back to balance.

2) Physically

The rollercoaster action of your emotions and the high level of cortisol flowing through your veins means that your body doesn’t put priority on other functions in your body, like digestion.

3) Financially

All of the above compiled together translates to a harsh financial reality when it goes unacknowledged and unmanaged.

I talk more about this is the video linked below. Go ahead and check it out.

Now, I’d like to cast a vision for an alternative to a stressed out life. What if, we adopted another approach to living our lives?

What if we chose relaxed calm over stress?

What if rather than hurrying, we slowed down and took our time? How would that change your life?

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that if we adopted that approach, we would actually find ourselves to be more productive, more focussed and more joyful.

We would see so many benefits that it may even surprise us. Our bodies would move from a sick state to a healing state. We would live lives of a higher quality that we haven’t yet experienced.

Doesn’t that sound glorious?

If you’re ready to ditch the stress and learn how to extinguish the fuse, there’s a 5 day Reveal and Heal challenge in the Becoming Authentically YOU: Healing the Body to Heal the Heart community on Facebook that you may find really valuable.

How to be your own HERO

I spent years of my life searching for that one way that I was going to be able to leave the crap that happened in my childhood behind me. I was so sure that there had to be some sort of secret sauce… there had to be someone out there in the world somewhere that could rescue me.

Do you know what I’ve learned after years of not finding what I was sure existed?

I’ve found that it did exist, just not in the way I thought it did. The person who was going to rescue me from my past was me. For me, this included getting myself out of the abuse environment. (You can read more about that story in my book,
Rising from the Ashes: How to Reclaim your Life after a Traumatic Childhood)

But really, getting out of the abusive environment is only the first step on a very long road of recovery.

Being your own hero is one that requires strength. Strength that you already have. Every person on this Earth has it already inside of themselves. We just don’t always recognize it.

There is one key step that I’d like to dive into a little bit here though. This is a step that is super important in getting unstuck and actually moving forward on your post-trauma life.

🔥🔥 Reclaim your Personal Power- The personal power we hold within ourselves is our most significant resource and it’s the thing we tend to just give away like it’s a free ice cream or something. We give it away to anyone who demands they know more about us than we do. Every time we don’t speak up for ourselves, every time we allow someone else to make a decision for us, every time we do something because someone else told us too… we are giving our personal power away.

Check out the video at the top of this article to learn the 4 steps in reclaiming your personal power. Then, come join us in the
Becoming Authentically YOU: Healing the Body to Heal the Heart community to learn more about reclaiming your personal power.

Reclaiming my health changed my life

Reclaiming my health changed my life

Reclaiming your Health isn’t as challenging as it might seem

I’ve been feeling very reflective lately with one chapter of my life ending and another just beginning.

7.5 years ago, I made the bold move to leave the large majority of my family and move 5600km away to a place where I knew no one but the opportunities for work where greater.

At that point, I thought that work was the reason for this move. However, now I know that it was so much more than that.

It was an adventure in reclaiming my health and coming into my own.

When I moved, I was 24 but my health was more like someone in their mid-40’s. I was on stomach medication, birth control to regulate my cycle, inhalers to control my asthma and I felt awful a large majority of the time.

I believed that when I had something wrong with me that I needed to go to the doctor because they could fix it.

Over the course of the last 7 years, my view has shifted. I no longer hold western medical doctors as 100% the only medical professional one requires. This view has been formed from my own experience of doctor’s dismissing me, the real expert on my body (which doesn’t always function in the textbook definition). Instead, I see western medical doctors as 1 piece of the health picture.

I have learned a lot about how my physical health has been determined by my mental and emotional health. The human body has been designed in a very complex and genius way in that all the systems are interconnected and more often than not, it’s not a straightforward answer.

I’ve learned that there are no quick fixes. There are bandaids but they don’t solve the problem and will likely result in something else going haywire in an attempt to get you to listen.

All of this to say, it has been an amazing adventure to date and part of the reason why I have certified as the health and life coach. If you would like to begin your journey and you’re not sure where to start, I would be thrilled to help you out.
